  • American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) dropped over 12% in today’s trading after reporting weaker guidance.  Management gave 3Q guidance of adjusted EPS to be 45-47 cents while consensus is 49.  It also said sales at American Eagle were “up significantly” while those at Aerie were down.  American Eagle is rated ‘Neutral’ in our US Large-Cap model and ‘Attractive’ in our US Consumer Discretionary model.
  • Brown Forman Group (BF/B), maker of Jack Daniel’s, lowered its profit forecast on the effects of EU tariffs.  It now sees FY2018 EPS as high as US$1.75, down from US$1.85.  Brown Forman is rated ‘Neutral’ in our US Large-Cap model and ‘Unattractive’ in our US Consumer Staples model
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) reported 2Q comparable sales fall 1.9% or 4% when adjusted for the calendar.  It reported a significant decline in Under Armour (UAA) sales after UA decided to expand its distribution channels.  Dick’s is rated ‘Unattractive’ in our US Large-Cap model and ‘Neutral’ in our US Consumer Discretionary model.  Under Armour is rated ‘Unattractive’ in our US Large-Cap model and ‘Neutral’ in our US Consumer Discretionary model.
