  • Transocean (RIG) will acquire smaller rival Ocean Rig UDW (ORIG) in a US$2.9bn deal.   Transocean was driven by the expectation that offshore drill rig rates will double by 2020 as interest in offshore drilling is growing again.  Transocean is trading down 7.7% at US$11.18 and Ocean Rig is trading up 10.8% to US$29.98.  Neither Transocean nor Ocean Rig UDW are rated in our Global Top Picks.
