  • General Motors (GM) announced a recall of 1.02 million SUVs and pickups for a problem with steering.  The power-assist function can momentarily cut out and has caused 30 accidents thus far with no fatalities.  GM is down 0.40% at $33.92.  GM is rated ‘Neutral’ in both our US Large-Cap and US Consumer Discretionary Global Top Picks
  • Kroger (KR) shares are down 10.2% at $28.51 after reporting sales growth that trailed consensus.  Same store sales grew at 1.6%, below the already tepid 1.8% expected by analysts.  These results are below those reported by peers.  The company sees FY sales growth of 2-2.5%.  Kroger is rated ‘Unattractive’ in our US Large-Cap and ‘Neutral’ in our US Consumer Staples Global Top Picks
  • UPS (UPS) said it expects charges from its transformation plan to be USD$550-750mn while it expects USD$1bn in cost savings.  Two-thirds of those saving will be in its US domestic unit.  Management expects business-to-business and e-commerce sales to be USD$1 trillion by 2021.  UPS is falling 2.4% at $120.30.  UPS is rated ‘Attractive’ in our US Large-Cap and ‘Neutral’ in our US Industrials Global Top Picks
