  • General Electric (GE) fell 3.5% to $11.74 after government officials in Iraq said rival Siemens (SIE GR) is likely to win the large contract to supply 11 gigawatts of generation capacity.  This comment came days after GE disclosed oxidation products in its flagship turbines.  GE touched an 11 year low today.  GE is rated ‘Top Short’ in our US Large-Cap and ‘Unattractive’ in our US Industrials Global Top Picks 
  • Newell Brands (NWL) fell 5.8% to close at $20.57 despite Wells Fargo reiterating its outperform on the stock in a note today.  The note highlighted investor concerns with China tariffs and the negative effects for Newell and said, “today’s stock reaction is totally overblown.”  Newell is rated ‘Top Short’ in both our US Large-Cap and US Consumer Discretionary Global Top Picks 
  • Sears (SHLD) CEO Eddie Lampert presented restructuring plans today to stave off bankruptcy.  The plan involves restructuring debt and selling real estate and was developed by the ESL Investments, the CEO’s hedge fund and largest holder of Sears debt.  Sears closed 1.35% lower at $1.24.  Sears is rated ‘Unattractive’ in our US SMID-Cap Global Top Picks and ‘Top Short’ in our US Consumer Discretionary Global Top Picks
