  • Boise Cascade (BCC) closed 1.8% higher at $33.17 after announcing it would acquire Arling Lumber.  Boise Cascade did not disclose terms of the deal yet, saying the acquisition of the family-owned wholesale distributor would help it serve customers in Ohio.  Additionally, Boise Cascade was upgraded to buy with a $40 price target at Vertical Research on its recent pullback and what it describes as strong fundamentals.  Boise Cascade is rated ‘Neutral’ in our US SMID-Cap Global Top Picks
  • L Brands (LB) rose 6% to $30.23 after reporting comparable sales that beat consensus.  Additionally, L Brands announced a strategic review of its Canadian lingerie brand, La Senza.  MKM issued a note saying the review is the “right move even if the fundamentals at L Brands were better…”  Despite today’s rally, L Brands remains the worst performer year-to-date in the S&P 500 Consumer Discretionary Index, down 49% versus a ~9% gain for the index.  L Brands is rated ‘Top Short’ in our US Large-Cap Global Top Picks and ‘Unattractive’ in our US Consumer Discretionary Global Top Picks
  • Turtle Bay (HEAR) today upped its guidance for 3Q net revenue, now projecting $73-74mm, up from the prior guidance of $65mm.  Turtle Bay said the rise in popularity of the “battle royale” genre of video games is largely to credit for the increased guidance.  Turtle Bay sees 3Q EPS of 74-78 cents, well above initial guidance of 44 cents.  Turtle Bay closed 4.7% higher at $18.01.  Turtle Bay is rated ‘Unattractive’ in our US Large-Cap Global Top Picks and ‘Neutral’ in our US Consumer Discretionary Global Top Picks
