Crypto Thursday: Transaction Volume vs Average Transaction Fees among Top Payment Coins
Oct 25, 2018
The Data Daily: Where the charts tell the story
This week we look at transactions volumes vs average transaction fees among top payment coins.
From below we observe:
- Average transaction fees and daily transaction levels of Bitcoin (BTC) peaked in December 2017 and January 2018 before crashing, hitting 1-year lows in March and April 2018. Daily BTC transactions have trended with an upward bias since June and July 2018 while average transaction fees have held steady at low levels. Although this is a strong sign, we must wait and see how average transaction fees react once daily transaction levels reach those of early 2018 -- until then, we will not have a full understanding of the state of the Bitcoin blockchain's transaction threshold after additions have been made in 2018 like the launch of the Liquid sidechain.
- In Litecoin (LTC), it is fascinating to see that, in early September, a spike in daily transactions was coupled with a decrease in average transaction fees
