US equities were higher today, with the S&P 500 (+0.25%), Russell 2000 (+0.55%), and Nasdaq Composite (+0.91%).

A venture capital firm backed by Peter Thiel has invested in a new startup that helps large investors trade bitcoin. The firm is called Tagomi, and is led by Greg Tusar, the former electronic trading chief at Goldman Sachs. SEC Commissioner, Robert Jackson said during an interview with CNBC that he believes ICOs will soon be regulated by the SEC. Jackson said the SEC will be thinking about ways to make cryptocurrency investments consistent with the regulatory body’s securities laws. CoinMarketCap has released an iOS mobile app and will list prices for hundreds of cryptocurrencies as well as trading volume data for exchanges. In 2018 alone, CoinmarketCap has received 60mm unique site visits. The Hong Kong Financial Services and Treasury (FSTB) released a report yesterday saying that virtual currencies play little impact in organized crime which contrasts some other governing bodies. CULedger, a credit union services firm that grew out of a blockchain-focused consortium effort, is now partnering with a distributed ledger technology firm called Hedera to build a public system for cross-border payments.
