US Markets End of Day Snapshot

US markets ended mixed heading into the holiday weekend, with the S&P 500 (-0.24%), Russell 2000 (-0.11%), and Nasdaq Composite (-0.13%).

The S&P 500 was led lower today by Energy (-2.60%), Materials (-0.54%), and Financials (-0.32%), while Telecom (+0.52%), Real Estate (+0.48%), and Utilities (+0.44%) were the biggest outperforming sectors.

Bayer (DB:BAYN) expects to win US antitrust approval of Monsanto (MON) next week. Bayer shares are up 0.77% and Monsanto shares are up 0.89%.

The Trump administration will allow ZTE Corp. (SZSE:000063), the Chinese telecommunications-equipment maker, to continue operating in business. As part of the deal, ZTE will have to pay a larger fine than expected and hire American compliance officers. 

Stifel believes that Brown-Forman (BF.B)’s FY19 sales growth outlook will come in below expectations. Brown-Forman shares closed down 3.01%.

Orbital ATK (OA) will be building two Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) for NASA. Orbital ATK shares closed flat.
