US Market Snapshot

US stocks are higher today, with the S&P 500 +0.24%, Russell 2000 +0.39%, and Nasdaq Composite +0.78%.  The VIX is down 86 basis points or 6.65% to 12.09. The US 10-year yield is down 3.6 basis points to 2.944%. The most actively traded options in US markets today are VIX July 18 OTM Puts, BAC June 15 OTM Calls, and SPY June 15 OTM Puts. The USD$ index is firmer against all of the G10, gaining 1.35% against EUR€ following the ECB’s decision to keep rates unchanged.

How Did European Stocks Close?

European stocks ended significantly higher today, reversing earlier loses, following the ECB’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged. The major indices all ended higher, with the Euro Stoxx 600 +1.23%, the FTSE 100 +0.81%, the DAX +1.68%, and the CAC40 +1.39%. Periphery markets were mostly higher as well, with Italy’s MIB +1.22%, Spain’s IBEX +0.59%, and Greece’s ASE +1.77%, while Portugal’s PSI 20 -0.10% fell. Germany’s 10-year bund yield fell 5.9 basis points to 0.424%. Italy’s 10-year yield fell 7 basis points to 2.735%.
