US stocks are mostly negative today, as Sino-American trade war concerns persist, with the Dow Jones Industrial -0.44%, the S&P 500 -0.44%, the Nasdaq Composite -0.34%, and the Russell 2000 -0.53%. The S&P 500 is being led lower by the underperformance of energy (-1.21%), industrials (-0.87%), and healthcare stocks (-0.69%), while real estate (+0.42%), utilities (+0.40%), telecommunications stocks (+0.03%) are the only S&P 500 sectors in the black. The VIX is down 93 basis points to 13.72. The yield on the US 10-year bond is down 3.3 basis points to 2.906%. The most actively traded options today are EEM June 29 ATM Puts, SPY June 29 OTM Calls, FOXA July 6 OTM Puts, and VIX July 18 OTM Puts. The USD$ index is lower today.

How Did European Stocks Close

European stocks finished trading broadly lower, with the Euro Stoxx 600 -0.90%, the FTSE 100 -0.93%, the DAX -1.44%, and the CAC 40 -1.05%. Periphery markets were predominantly lower as well, with the IBEX -0.89%, the FTSE MIB -2.02%, and the PSI 20 -1.13%, while the ASE was 0.91% higher. Yield on the Italian 10-year bond was up 18.0 basis points to 2.717%, while the yield on the German Bund fell 4.2 basis points to 0.332%. Spanish and Portuguese 10-year bonds sold off as well, with the yield up 9.2 basis and 9.3 basis points respectively.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) is being sued by nine passengers following the fatal Southwest flight in April, during which a mid-flight engine failure caused metal debris to enter the fuselage. The plaintiffs are suing for emotional distress and pain suffered due to loss of cabin pressure. Shares of Southwest Airlines are up 1.96% today.
