- Chinese vaccine manufacturer Changsheng Biotechnology has reportedly falsified details regarding its rabies vaccine. One of China’s most well-known cryptocurrency investors, Li Xiaolai, has argued on his WeChat channel that issues like these could be prevented if distributed ledger technology was introduced into industries like this. By using a distributed ledger, all details (i.e. vaccine producer info, quality assurance info, where the vaccines have traveled to, etc.) can be securely and accurately tracked, leaving no room for scandals like this.
- Fintech company Digital Asset announced a partnership with Google Cloud to aid in the construction of blockchain applications. Digital Asset and Google Cloud will provide support and software tools to blockchain application developers so that they don’t have to code the applications from scratch. The pair will also be working on Digital Asset’s developer program private beta, giving Google Cloud developers access to its Digital Asset Modeling Language (DAML) software development kit (SDK).
- 4New, a UK-based blockchain platform powered by waste products announced a $30 million investment round led by private equity firm Mirach Capital to help it better reach its objectives. 4New employs anaerobic digestion technology for converting normal household waste and feedstock into electricity, otherwise known as Waste to Energy (WTE). This electricity will be used for mining cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), and others. 4New already has two operating facilities in the UK.
- Dusk Foundation, a blockchain research firm, has announced the launch of its Dusk Network. Dusk Network is essentially a decentralized communication platform that secures the anonymous data exchanged between peers. On this platform, content providers and network enablers will be compensated for their work using the network’s cryptocurrency DUSK.
